November 09, 2007
Following the October launch of OCS (Office Communications Server) 2007 in the United States, Microsoft Taiwan announced on November 1 strategic partnerships with Asus, HP and Nortel to promote the software platform in Taiwan.

According to Microsoft, OCS 2007 serves as a unified communications platform integrating the various communication tools of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), instant messaging, web conferencing, and e-mail, thereby enabling data and voice convergence on a software-based basis.

In addition, Chinese-language Economic Daily News reported that Taiwan-based Asus will develop OCS 2007-compliant mobile handheld devices. Also, Microsoft will leverage Nortel's switch and server technologies via the establishment of ICA (Innovative Communications Alliance). As for implementation services, Microsoft will turn to HP with expertise in this field.
